Rajeesh started with Dominique Parat as a kitchen hand at age 15. He undertook his chef’s training with the NZ Army and, since then, has continually honed and refined his skills in various kitchens, which he now applies to his craft at Mekong Baby. He is absolutely passionate about food in general and loves the spices, flavours and textures of south-east asian food in particular. He is a vital and stabilising force in the kitchen, motivating and encouraging his staff to consistently meet or exceed the high standards expected of everyone in the team.
Neha came to New Zealand as a student from India. She came to Mekong Baby after six years with SkyCity, working as floor manager before being promoted to her current role. Neha’s responsibilities include managing staff rosters and generally ensuring that restaurant staff are able to concentrate fully on the customers. She is a true people person and loves sharing in the delight shown by new customers enjoying their first Mekong Baby experience, and welcoming them back for more.
Calum McKenzie is the front-of-house face of Mekong Baby, whose duties include greeting customers, managing the bar and training staff. He also performs the duties of sommelier on request and it is to him that you should direct any enquiries about our extensive wine list. Originally hailing from Wellington, Calum lives and breathes hospitality. His philosophy is that Mekong Baby is ‘our house’ and we take great care in making sure that everyone who comes here, leaves having shared a memorable experience.
It will most likely be the voice of the lovely Jessica “Jess” Lovison who answers our phone, should you ring to make a group booking or to reserve a table, or just about any other reason for that matter. Jess has been with us almost from the beginning and handles all customer communications, replies to email queries, as well as handling accounts and other administrative responsibilities. And, as if that wasn’t enough, during very busy times she can also be found helping the team on the floor.
